The Water Moccasin

Over the summer I went to a family ranch in Texas. The second day we were there, it was a very hot and sunny. All you could see was open fields of cattle and horses as well as a big pond in the middle. We had all decided to go fishing in that pond with the sun over head and sweat dripping down our faces. This day I was wearing shorts and and flip flops. When we got to the pond every thing seemed normal except for grass up past my ankle. The only thing we had to worry about in the grass was snakes. I wasn't to worried, but we had brought a shotgun just in case. All of a sudden I was standing there next to a tree when I saw the grass next to me go rushing down. My first instinct was to run because I was almost 100% positive it was a snake. When I got back to the vehicle I told my dad about the snake and then my cousin grabbed the shotgun. He looked around all over where I was, and he saw no snake at all. But all of a sudden there was a splash in the water and there it was. The six foot long water moccasin. It scared all of us, but before we could react any further my cousin took a shot and the snake went under. The scaly beast was dead.
